CSCAA Announces Division III Awards and All-America Team
The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced its NCAA Division III award winners and All-Americans for the 2022-23 season.
The awards were determined by a nationwide vote of CSCAA-member Division III head swimming coaches and head diving coaches. All-Americans are selected on the basis of their finish at the NCAA Championships and a team's current membership with the CSCAA. Only student-athletes who competed in their championship finals are eligible for All-America Honors. NCAA relays & individuals must score in the top 8 to earn first-team honors while those who finish ninth through sixteenth earn second-team honors.
Coach of the Year Awards
Denison's Gregg Parini won the Women's Swim Coach of the Year while Emory’s Tomasz Rossa earned the Women's Dive Coach of the Year award. On the Men’s side, Jason Weber of Chicago was named the Men's Swim Coach of the Year while Ron Kontura of Kenyon was recognized as the Men's Dive Coach of the Year.
Athlete of the Year Awards
On the women's side, Swimmer of the Year went to Sophia Verkleeren of Williams as Emory’s Ariana Khan earned Women’s Diver of the Year. For the men, Whitman’s Tanner Filion was named Men’s Swimmer of the Year while Kenyon’s Israel Zavaleta captured the Men’s Diver of the Year award.
All-American Honors
The CSCAA selected 266 student-athletes for First Team All-America. An additional 203 individuals were named Second Team All-America.
