Virginia Women, Cal Men Hold Top Spots in CSCAA October Poll

The Virginia Women and Cal Men remain at #1 in the CSCAA Preseason Polls

October 17, 2024 - The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) released the October edition of the Division I Top 25 dual meet poll. The University of Virginia women and California-Berkeley men both remain atop the polls.

The committee, consisting of Division I coaches, evaluates and ranks the nation's top 25 dual meet teams. Their assessment considers head-to-head dual meet outcomes, recent performances since the last rankings, season-long results, dual meet records, roster changes (such as injuries), and data from the SwimCloud Simulator. It's important to note that the poll's objective is not to predict the top finishers in a championship meet format.

Cal (393) remains at the top of the men's poll as the dual meet season begins, while Texas (377) and Florida (369) swap spots in the top three. Indiana (361) and NC State (332) both hold their positions in the top five after a light start to the season. Auburn climbed three spots to 13th, while Minnesota (18) and LSU (19) each moved up four spots into the top 20. Georgia Tech made the largest leap on the men's side, rising from Honorable Mention to 17th, while Harvard makes its first appearance of the year at 25th. In total, 30 programs from seven conferences received votes in this month's poll.

On the women's side, the top-ranked Cavaliers (420) maintained their spot at the top of the poll, though not unanimously, as Texas (413) received a number of first-place votes. The top five remained unchanged, with Florida (390), Stanford (371), and Tennessee (361) retaining their respective ranks. Georgia (269) moved into the top 10, LSU jumped six spots to 13th, and South Carolina makes its debut this year at 17th. Miami (FL) and Missouri both make their first appearance of the season at 24th and 25th, respectively. In total, 31 teams from five conferences received votes this month.

Dual meet records are sourced from each institution's website.
