Records Continue to Fall on Day Two of National Invitational Championship

Ocala, FL – The CSCAA National Invitational Championship, presented by Myrtha Pools and hosted at the FAST facility in Ocala, Florida, continued exciting races and record breaking performances. Swimmers from nearly 60 institutions across the nation delivered exceptional results in the first evening of finals.

After the second night of racing, the University of Akron women’s team leads the way with 442 points. Kentucky moves into second with 435, and Rice is third with 408 points. On the men’s side, Ohio State remains in first place with 576.5 points, followed by Queens with 458 points. Kentucky moves into the top three with 441.5 points.

Men’s 200-Yard Medley Relay:

Drexel University’s relay team of Theo Andreopoulos, Kacper Karnik, Kuba Kwasny, and Sebastian Smith captured the title in 1:25.45, narrowly edging out Queens University of Charlotte (1:25.51) and George Washington University (1:26.27) in a race that came down to the final strokes.

Women’s 200-Yard Medley Relay:

The Akron team of Maddy Gatrall, Claire Cox, Addy Soehnlen and Asa Szwabinska stole the show, touching the wall first in 1:38.40. Florida International University followed closely behind at 1:38.44, while Queens secured third in 1:38.95.

Men’s 400-Yard Individual Medley:

Ohio State’s Alex Metzler delivered a dominant performance, winning gold in 3:45.44—a new CSCAA record. Utah’s Strahinja Maslo placed second in 3:50.31, while Darwin Anderson (BYU) rounded out the podium in 3:50.86.

Women’s 400-Yard Individual Medley:

Jessica Eden of Ohio State claimed the title with a time of 4:12.14, fending off strong competition from Kentucky’s Madi McGlothen (4:12.54) and Hayden Penny (4:13.19).

Men’s 100-Yard Butterfly:

Drexel’s Kuba Kwasny set a new CSCAA record in 45.90, winning gold. Elliott Irwin (George Washington) took silver in 46.19, while Sebastian Smith (Drexel) placed third with 46.30.

Women’s 100-Yard Butterfly:

A strong showing from Akron’s Felicia Klintemar (52.64) and Aislinn Holder (52.76) gave the team a 1-2 finish. Rice University’s Arielle Hayon took third in 52.83.

Men’s 200-Yard Freestyle:

Iona’s Michael Faughnan surged to victory in 1:34.85, edging out Queens’ Daniel Meszaros (1:35.49) and Florida Atlantic’s Daniel Laureyssens (1:35.94).

Women’s 200-Yard Freestyle:

Illinois’ Sydney Stoll secured first place in 1:46.96, while Buffalo’s Mia Naccarella (1:47.33) and Wyoming’s Tara Joyce (1:47.43) followed closely behind.

Men’s 100-Yard Breaststroke:

Ohio State’s Luke Vickers outpaced the competition, touching first in 53.28. Pacific’s Mattia Giurgevich (53.45) and BYU’ Peter Etzold (53.56) finished second and third, respectively.

Women’s 100-Yard Breaststroke:

Utah’s Erin Palmer led the charge with a winning time of 1:00.50. Ohio State’s Casi Dibetta (1:00.58) and Reese Dehen (1:00.67) rounded out the podium.

Men’s 100-Yard Backstroke:

Grand Canyon’s Alex Volxv delivered a swift 46.35 to claim the title. Kentucky’s Devin Naoroz (46.46) finished second, and iona’s Michael Faughnan (46.68) secured third.

Women’s 100-Yard Backstroke:

Florida Gulf Coast’s Izzy Ackley dominated with a 52.24 finish. Ohio State’s Allie Fenska (53.23) took silver, while Akron’s Maddy Gattrall (53.27) earned bronze.

Men’s 800-Yard Freestyle Relay:

Ohio State’s relay team of Caleb Ellis, Martin Perecinsky, Josh Bedford and Alex Metzler clinched the win in 6:25.56, holding off Utah (6:28.65) and Queens (6:29.87).

Women’s 800-Yard Freestyle Relay:

The Akron relay team of Ada Szwabinksa, Felicia Klintemar, Rebecca Reid and Dominca Kossakowska stormed to victory in 7:12.17 a new met record outpacing Kentucky(7:12.88) and Buffalo (7:16.07).
